The report 'This is how we are: the profile of social volunteering in Spain' points out a change in the majority profile of people who collaborate with NGOs as volunteers, made up of women (51%) between 25 and 34 years old (21%) , with higher education (3%) and unemployed or without remuneration and who have been collaborating with NGOs for more than three years.
In this way, the document produced by the Volunteer Observatory reflects a possible trend towards the "feminization" of volunteering and indicates that only the group of women between 31 and 64 years old already represents 30% of all volunteers.
By age, people under 25 years of age make up 14,4% of NGO volunteers and are the least altruistic age group, while those over 65 represent 18% of volunteering.
On the other hand, this report, which analyzes the responses of volunteers from 563 organizations that belong to the Spanish Volunteering Platform, points out that the main reason given by those who collaborate altruistically is to "help others" 93% of the cases, followed by "learning something new" or "doing something different" for 80%. Other reasons are "meeting new people and making new friends" for 64% or "gaining work experience or professional skills" for 49%.
Finally, the average dedication of people of the majority profile among the volunteers is between one and five hours a week to this activity. Likewise, 68% do it in tasks of caring for people and 53% carry out communication, awareness or recruitment activities.
