The Spanish students spend on average a third more time for homework than those of the OECD and yet its results are lower than the average according to the last international evaluation of students PISA 2012.
No relationship significant between the time spent studying at home and tasks and results that are obtained, as we can verify and reaffirm us. Among the participants who perform better, some students dedicate more than 10 hours each week to homework but others do not dedicate even 3 hours (in the case of Finland), so we can conclude that doing more homework or spending more time doing it does not guarantee no success.
And this is the case of Spaniards, who 15-year-olds dedicate six and a half hours a week to homework (in the OECD they dedicate 4,8 hours), and receive private classes of more than one hour a week (the international average is half) and not for that reason they obtain better results.
With regard to homework, there are many opinions, both those who are in favor of many as something beneficial and those who consider that there is a great overload of homework. In any case, homework and work outside of class they do not seem, in excess, something harmful for the students; and in fact it helps some to consolidate their knowledge. There are also other ways to learn better, not just homework, that can benefit students; especially self-study, reading and discovery.
