The City Council of La Nucía, a municipality located in the province of Alicante, announced 20 public employment positions for civil servants in various areas. This announcement attracted attention not only for the number of positions offered, but also for a surprising fact discovered during the selection process. PSOE spokesman Vicent Santamaría accurately predicted the names of 19 of the 20 selected candidates before the official tests were held.
The procedure was carried out as expected; however, what stood out was that Santamaría presented the names of the 20 candidates who would obtain their place before a notary a month before the tests. Of the 20 names, he got 19 right., which represented a 95% success rate, raising doubts about the transparency of the process.
The vacancies announced
The competitive examination offered vacancies in different areas of the City Council. A total of 100 candidates were called 20 places distributed as follows:
- 4 Administrative positions.
- 4 Administrative Assistant positions.
- 1 Library Assistant position.
- 1 janitor position for the nursery school.
- 1 position for Director of the nursery school.
- 1 Physiotherapist position.
- 1 Warehouse Officer position.
- 3 Brigade Laborer positions.
- 1 Psychologist position.
- 1 position for Culture Technician.
- 1 Sports Technician position.
- 1 place for a Diploma in Computer Science.
In total, 128 people participated in the competitions, although the most striking thing was that among the 54 candidates who opted for one of the 4 Administrative Assistant positions, Santamaría correctly guessed the name of 3 of the 4 selected, making only one of the candidates wrong.
A controversial process
Among the vacancies announced, it is worth highlighting the vacancy of Head of the nursery school, which only had one registered candidate. Due to this circumstance, it was enough for the only candidate to pass the test to obtain the position, which made this process a mere formality.
Despite the uproar caused by Santamaría's high rate of correct answers, the competitions went ahead as planned. However, both the opposition and other parties raised doubts about the impartiality of the process. Local authorities, for their part, defended the legality of the competitions and there were no changes in the final results.
This case is just one of several examples that have raised media and political attention regarding transparency in public administration selection processes, especially in small municipalities. In this regard, the organizations have begun to reinforce control and transparency measures to avoid any type of irregularity or favoritism in future calls.
Although oppositions at the local level are usually less exposed than in other larger public entities, cases such as that of La Nucía They show the growing need to improve procedures in order to ensure greater confidence on the part of candidates and citizens in general.
The future of the competitive examinations in La Nucía, as in other municipalities, will depend on a continuous updating of its processes and the adoption of systems that guarantee public scrutiny and greater transparency.
Thank you "Conchi" for continuing your work writing. Happy New Year, even if it's a little late. Kisses.
I am doing an opposition in the nucia right now ... this Monday we do the test type ... we are 14 ... and it is already possible to foresee without being very intelligent who is going to pass. these two interim positions ... there is a CF La Nucia player ... who has appeared and another from the town, the two were together in all the tests ... and without going to the Notary and without going to the exam yet ... I can say that they are going to enter these two. Take note….
What a shame…
